The Great Lakes Pop Up Club was formed in February of 2001 to bring pop up campers in the great lakes region together. The purpose of the club is to encourage, promote and share a safe pop up camping experience. We are a diverse group comprised of singles, families and retiree's who enjoy getting out and enjoying the great outdoors. We try to make every camp out fun for all ages by planning activities and functions like potluck dinners, hikes, group campfires and more.
The club is made up of five state chapters from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. Each chapter has a coordinator that organizes and pulls things together for the group. Usually there is one camp out per month throughout the camping season and chapter members are encouraged to participate in the planning. There is also an annual club rally held each year where all 5 chapters get together for an adventure like no other.
Most club members are primarily pop up campers, but the club also welcomes "folding trailers" of all kinds. (Hybrids, Hi/Lo's and Chalets are included in this category.) Besides our interest in folding trailers there is one other thing we have in common. We are all online.
The club is internet based and was put together on the web. Most of us met while surfing the PopUpTimes Magazine web site. It's an excellent magazine and web site where you can learn a lot about the folding trailer industry. From trailer reviews to maintenance tips they cover it all. Club communication were conducted on the magazines message board until we eventually established a forum of our own.
There are many RV clubs out there for travel trailers and motor homes, but nothing that caters to pop up campers like GLPUC, and the best part....... It's FREE! |
