The “Little Smokies of Ohio”: Shawnee South Loop

Shawnee State Forest has been on our radar for quite some time. If you check YouTube there are plenty of videos of people having outright miserable times there. We decided to wait until late Fall to hike here to miss the bugs and overgrowth.

What a place! We ended up doing the entire south loop in 1N/2D for a total trip distance of 26 miles and total elevation of over 5000 feet (WHAT?!). Definitely the hilliest place I have ever been in Ohio – worth it for the views though! Bringing the drone really paid off!
